Meet the Democrats running this November to represent the districts that make up Outagamie County, from Congress to the State Legislature.
David Crowley
The son of an electrician and a service worker, David Crowley grew up facing housing instability and food insecurity, experiences that still shape how he leads. A former state representative, he now serves his second term as Milwaukee County Executive, the first Black person elected to that office. He is running for Governor on “Badger Basics,” a plan built on affordability, care, and opportunity for working families across Wisconsin.
Sarah Godlewski
A fifth-generation Wisconsinite from Eau Claire, Sarah Godlewski serves as Wisconsin’s Secretary of State and previously served as State Treasurer. Before public office she co-founded a mission-driven investment firm and worked as a strategic-planning consultant. Running for Lieutenant Governor alongside David Crowley, she is focused on kitchen-table issues for working families, holding corporations accountable, and investing in renewable energy.
Josh Kaul
Wisconsin’s Attorney General since 2019, Josh Kaul grew up in Oshkosh and Fond du Lac as the son of a prosecutor and a police officer. A graduate of Yale and Stanford Law School, he served as a federal prosecutor in Baltimore before returning home to protect voting rights. He is running for re-election on a record of fighting crime, defending Wisconsinites’ rights, and protecting the state’s natural resources.
JoCasta Zamarripa
A lifelong Milwaukeean, JoCasta Zamarripa made history as the first Latina and first openly bisexual member of both the Wisconsin Legislature and the Milwaukee Common Council. She served about a decade in the State Assembly and now represents Milwaukee’s 8th District as Alderperson, focusing on affordable housing and community development. She is running for Secretary of State to fully fund public schools, deliver housing relief for working families, and expand access to affordable child care.
Yee Leng Xiong
Born in Wausau to Hmong refugee parents, Yee Leng Xiong has built a career in community leadership, including as Executive Director of the Hmong American Center. He has served on the D.C. Everest School Board since 2014 and the Marathon County Board since 2016. He is running for State Treasurer on his budget and fiscal experience, pledging to manage the state’s school trust funds responsibly and return unclaimed money to working families.
Brad Smith
A lifelong Wisconsinite born in Larsen and raised in Neenah, Brad Smith enlisted in the Wisconsin Army National Guard as a Forward Observer, rose to Staff Sergeant, and served 14 months supporting the Global War on Terror. He used the GI Bill to earn a degree from UW-Stevens Point and an MBA, then built a career in technology before starting his own consulting business. He and his wife Jennifer are raising two sons in Mequon. He is running to protect Wisconsin’s middle class and family farms, lower health care and prescription costs, and defend the Affordable Care Act and Medicaid.
Rick Crosson
A U.S. Army veteran with combat deployments, Rick Crosson has served on his local school board and worked in business. He’s running on affordability for working families, accountability, and restoring honesty in government.
Mark Becker
Mark Becker is a small business owner, father, and lifelong resident of Northeast Wisconsin, running as an Independent for State Senate District 1.
Emily Tseffos
Chair of the Outagamie County Democrats, Emily Tseffos is a community advocate who has worked alongside her neighbors on everything from local food pantries to protecting rural hospitals. She’s running for State Senate to lower costs, support kids, and make communities safer.
Alicia Saunders
A U.S. Navy veteran who deployed aboard the USS Harry S. Truman during Operation Iraqi Freedom, Alicia Saunders raised two kids mostly on her own and has worked jobs from FedEx driver to industrial sanitation. She spent the past two years on constituent advocacy and lobbying in Madison, and is running to represent working people, refuse corporate money, and hold regular listening sessions across the district.
Mike Goodwin
Mike Goodwin is the Democratic candidate for State Assembly District 3, challenging Republican incumbent Ron Tusler. Earning a spot on the November ballot through the primary, he’s running to give the district leadership that takes its future seriously.
Justin Schumacher
A lifelong Wisconsin resident and Eagle Scout, Justin Schumacher serves as Outagamie County Parks Director and Town Chair of Freedom, with a background in construction and parks. He’s running on empowering local government, affordable housing, protecting family farms, and practical, bipartisan leadership.
Lee Snodgrass
Appleton’s state representative since 2021 and a 30-year resident, Lee Snodgrass focuses on child care as a workforce issue, affordable housing, safe communities, and strong public schools. She serves as ranking member on the Campaigns and Elections committee and is known for collaborative, bipartisan leadership.
Becky Nichols
A public school teacher, mom, and Menasha City Council member since 2013, Becky Nichols has called Menasha home for over 20 years. She’s running to protect affordable health care, fully fund public schools with property tax relief, lower the cost of living, and make government work through bipartisan collaboration.
Alex Corrigan
Alex Corrigan is raising her four children in Wisconsin’s 55th District and comes from a working-class family without wealth or political connections. She serves on the Neenah Joint School District Board of Education, giving her firsthand experience with local schools and community needs. Her campaign takes no PAC money, funded by people who live and work in the district. She is running to strengthen the community, manage rising costs like property taxes and utility bills, and support education through teacher retention and school funding.
Grace Abitz
A UW-Green Bay graduate and Hortonville small-business owner, Grace Abitz has served as a Village Board Trustee since 2023. Endorsed by WEAC and the Appleton firefighters’ union, she’s running for affordable child care, strong public schools, family farms, affordable housing, and expanded health care.
Joey Marschall
Joey Marschall has worked in factories, property management, custodial work, and behind the bar, and studied criminal justice at UW-Oshkosh. Leading ‘by listening first,’ he’s running on universal health care, rural revitalization through jobs and infrastructure, and amplifying underrepresented voices.
