The candidate recruitment and development committee leads the party’s efforts in identifying progressive community leaders in all arenas to commit to running for elected office whether it be non-partisan local (city council, county board, school board, etc.) or partisan state level office (Assembly, Senate, etc.). In addition, the committee leads the party’s candidate training by connecting candidates with the resources necessary to run a successful campaign.
-
The communications committee is responsible for all official party communications, including the DPOC website, administration of our social media platforms, video and photography for events, and public relation for DPOC efforts in the community. The committee works closely with the county party chair to amplify the message of the county party (primarily through digital communication) by sharing our beliefs and priorities, activities and events, successes, and calls to action. Vehicles for communication include social media (Facebook, Twitter & Instagram), newsletters and announcements (Mail chimp), our website, and press releases to media outlets as appropriate.
-
The constitution and by-laws committee is the steward of our party’s governing documents. The committee is responsible for making sure we are compliant with the constitution and by-laws of the Democratic Party of Wisconsin and our rules are clearly stated. The committee leads any changes or additions to the governance documents via appropriate procedures.
-
The fundraising committee is responsible for driving the financial support of the county party efforts by nurturing a culture of philanthropy through events and campaigns to engage party members and the general public. Examples of fundraising events include: Brunching Blue annual brunch, DPOC Corn Roast, Ladling Up Democracy, Pi(e) Day, and more.
-
The Membership Committee is responsible for leading strategies for growth of the county party’s membership and member engagement. The Membership Chair uses the Voter Access Network (VAN) to identify opportunities and gaps where membership may be and identifies other avenues for possible members. Additionally, the Membership Chair and/or members of the committee are responsible for creating guidelines for existing party members to learn how to engage potential members, determining the “member experience” when new members join, and for identifying member leaders for building a bench of contributors to the efforts of the county party.
-
The Outreach Committee’s purpose is to build county party visibility through engaging with other organizations, businesses, voters, and members of the community via social events, attendance at community events, and collaborations with like-minded organizations on other opportunities or events. Through outreach efforts we make contacts that help build our membership base, awareness of the party, and positive association with our organization. Examples of outreach efforts include: the Outagamie County Fair, participation in local parades, Pints with Progressives, Pancakes and Politics, tabling at Pride Alive and Juneteenth, DPOC-led training, community forums, and more.
All interested members are welcome and encouraged to join as many committees as they like! We need a strong network of volunteers and talents to support these committees and ensure their success! Committees meet on varied schedules. Please email dpocgeneral@gmail.com for more information on connecting with committee chairs.

The Political Outreach Committee (POC) of the Democratic Party of Outagamie County (DPOC) will work closely with the county party chair, the vice chair, the candidate development committee chair, and organizing arm of the Democratic party of Wisconsin (DPW) to identify, develop and train volunteers in the skills needed to support campaigns, conduct voter outreach and engagement, and develop and train volunteers for campaign work in upcoming elections such as canvassing, phone banking etc.
A newer outgrowth of Political Outreach is Outagamie County Action Teams (OAT). The purpose of these neighborhood teams organized by Alderperson districts in Appleton and by areas outside of Appleton is: to elect progressive/Democratic candidates and advocate for progressive policies. We accomplish this by building relationships in our neighborhoods to engage volunteers through education and community outreach.

Office volunteers are the frontline ambassadors for the Democratic Party of Outagamie County. Volunteers are enthusiastic, helpful, courteous and knowledgeable. Responsibilities include answering the phone, welcoming visitors, office upkeep, and occassional miscellaneous tasks. Everything from the smile you wear to your conversations with visitors reflects on the DPOC.
