RESIDENCY QUESTIONS IN AD56

Statement from the Democratic Party of Outagamie County
on Residency Questions in Assembly District 56
This week, reporting suggested that Representative Dave Murphy no longer resides in Assembly District 56. This revelation leaves the people of the 56th without true representation in Madison — at a time when families, schools, and small businesses most need their voices heard.
The residents of Maple Creek, Greenville, Shiocton, Ellington, and every corner of the district deserve leaders who are honest, transparent, and rooted in this community. Retirees struggling with monthly expenses, teachers and parents calling for adequate school funding, farmers looking for real support, and small business owners trying to make ends meet — all of them need representation they can count on.
Representative Murphy has reportedly told people he is “living with friends” or that his “house is still under construction.” To date, there is no evidence to support these claims, and the lack of clarity only deepens the distrust. Regardless of technical legal requirements, representation is not about finding loopholes — it’s about living in the community you serve and being accountable to the people who elected you.
Quote from Emily Tseffos, Chair of the Democratic Party of Outagamie County:
“Neighbors in the 56th Assembly District deserve better than to be left without representation. I’ve knocked on doors and sat at kitchen tables across this district, and I can tell you firsthand that people here want leaders who are present, accountable, and willing to fight for them. Our current representative owes his constituents a full and honest explanation — or he should step aside so someone who truly lives here can do the job.”
The Democratic Party of Outagamie County will continue building the grassroots energy and partnerships necessary to deliver responsive, community-centered leadership in Madison.
