Talking Points: Freedom
TOPLINE MESSAGE: Democrats are fighting for our freedoms—from Sen. Tammy Baldwin’s fight to restore the protections of Roe v. Wade, to President Biden’s fight to bring down costs and invest in American workers, to our fight to win majorities in Madison and do the right thing for Wisconsinites.
Tammy Baldwin is committed to making sure that working families in Wisconsin, not just the big corporations and ultra-wealthy, have someone working for them.
From making healthcare more affordable, promoting Made in America and Made in Wisconsin policies, improving the lives of our veterans, protecting Social Security and Medicare, and restoring our freedom to make our own health care decisions, Tammy has made real progress over these past few years, but there is still so much work to be done.
Multimillionaire California bank owner Eric Hovde was flown in by Mitch McConnell to buy Wisconsin’s U.S. Senate seat—it’s clear he doesn’t care about Wisconsinites.
Eric Hovde would be a rubber stamp for the MAGA agenda in DC—banning abortion, gutting Social Security and Medicare, repealing the Affordable Care Act, and cutting taxes for the wealthy at the expense of middle-class families.
President Biden is fighting for our children to enjoy a future with more freedom—not less.
President Biden and Vice President Harris are building the economy from the middle out and bottom up, not the top down, with record job creation and wage growth, and historic investments in American workers.
The Biden-Harris Administration is committed to restoring Roe so that women have the freedom to make their own health care decisions.
Donald Trump is running a campaign of revenge and retribution—a vision of dividing our country, attacking our values, and eroding our ideals.
Donald Trump’s legacy is clear—he is the reason that reproductive freedom was ripped away from women nationwide; he had the worst jobs record since the Great Depression; he tried to cut Social Security and Medicare every year he was in office; and he wants to repeal the Affordable Care Act which over 260,000 Wisconsinites rely on for affordable health care. He’s running on an extreme MAGA agenda that puts the wealthy ahead of the working class.
It’s a new day for democracy in Wisconsin—thanks to new, fair maps, the majority will now determine the majority in Madison for the first time in more than a decade.
For years, an ultra-partisan gerrymander shielded Republican politicians from accountability for their extreme agenda.
Wisconsinites have had enough of the GOP’s cynical political games in Madison—blocking critical funding for clean water, rural hospitals and public schools, all while pushing for giveaways and loopholes to enrich the very wealthiest at the expense of everyone else.
This fall, Wisconsin has the chance to make all the difference. We can reelect Tammy Baldwin, President Biden and Vice President Harris. We can win back seats in the state Senate to break the GOP’s supermajority. And we can flip the Assembly and end Robin Vos’ speakership.
But it won’t be easy. We know the election this November is going to be close—it wouldn’t be Wisconsin if it weren’t. That’s why we can’t afford to waste a moment between now and November.
