Talking Points: Trump’s Felony Convictions
We must make Trump 34 felony convictions the big deal it is.
We are a country of laws, not men, and even presidents are subject to it.
Trump was convicted on ALL 34 counts by a jury of his peers, at least half of whom were selected by Trump’s own attorneys.
He was convicted of falsifying business records as part of a scheme to interfere in an election, which is a felony.
The defense never presented any evidence and didn’t even put up a case.
What he was convicted of proves once again what a danger Donald Trump is to democracy. He is running to avoid legal accountability and to punish his enemies.
We must tell voters that there is nothing normal about committing 34 felonies. They need to have this repeated, then reinforced. This. Is. Not. Normal.
A particular segment of voters is deeply uncomfortable with electing a convicted felon as President of the United States. That group isn’t huge, but it is large enough to matter in a very close election.
