We get more than we give to undocumented residents
By Connie Raether
I love animals, all animals, including cows. What will happen to the cows at all the big farms when Donald Trump deports all the immigrants?
We all know that many of them work on farms, milking cows. If a cow needs to be milked, she is in pain until she is milked. What if nobody is there to milk her? She will be in agony. Is that okay?
And, if you don’t really care about cows, what about your ability to go to a hotel? Many people working in hotels are undocumented. Are you okay with not having your rooms cleaned, not having your breakfast made?
Eleven million people are undocumented, most having come here to make a better life for their families. No, they are not murderers or rapists. They are our brothers and sisters who only want to care for their children.
If Trump deports them, it will cost $88 billion a year, according to the Wall Street Journal. And we will lose the millions that they contribute to our economy through the taxes that they all pay.
Is there any benefit to us if they are deported? No. Yes, their children are in our schools, but many of them are citizens. No, they don’t get free health care in most states. They give much more than they get.
Don’t fall prey to the fear mongering. These are our neighbors. They need to stay here. Call your U.S. Congresspeople and Senators and say ‘no’ to deportation.
