Lower costs, strong schools, and health care for the Fox Valley.
About Becky
Becky Nichols is a public-school teacher who served on the Menasha Common Council for about a dozen years (2013-2025) and on the county board. A Menasha resident of more than 20 years, she first ran for office because she felt her representative was focused on a political agenda rather than families.
She is running for the open Assembly District 53 seat (Menasha and Neenah) against Republican David Daniels, in a district the DLCC calls a true toss-up.
Where Becky stands
Positions marked ★ Top Wisconsin issue rank among Wisconsin voters’ highest priorities (Marquette Law School Poll, statewide, August 2026).
Would “lower the cost of living so families can keep more of their hard-earned money.”
Backs “fully funded public schools, property tax relief, and policies that support hard-working teachers.”
Would “protect and expand affordable, high-quality healthcare, including reproductive and mental health services.”
Would prioritize Childcare Counts in the next state budget to stabilize costs for families and providers.
The race
Running for: Wisconsin State Assembly, District 53 (open seat)
Opponent: Republican David Daniels
Why it matters for Outagamie: A genuine toss-up: Gov. Evers carried it in 2022, but a Republican won the seat by fewer than 400 votes in 2024. Flipping it is central to retaking the Assembly.
