Extremism Wins

At first glance, the new Speaker of Congress seemed likable and willing to work together. He talked like a moderate. Give the man a chance, I thought. Maybe Congress will finally get their work done and do good things.
Turns out he is quite the opposite. Republicans call him “MAGA Mike”. Extremist views, conspiracy theories, radical religious fundamentalism, uncompromising, and the “burn it down” mentality win the day. For starters, be prepared for a government shutdown, which will harm many people and result in economic chaos. Next up, tax cuts for the rich and cuts to services, benefits, and rights for the rest of us.
With the support of Wisconsin’s Republican congressmen, the MAGA extremists got their man. Gallagher, Steil, Fitzgerald, Grothman, and Tiffany all voted for this radical agenda. Van Orden skipped the vote. Not a moderate among them. This is not where the majority of Wisconsinites are. But that is where the Republican Party is today.
The threat to our Constitutional Republic is literally coming from inside the House. It is time to send these extremists packing and clean House.
