Shukoski understands the people he would represent
This election couldn’t provide a starker choice between candidates and parties.
Democrats continue to be the party of the middle class, supporting unions and policies that make healthcare as well as the other essential needs of everyday Wisconsinites more affordable and available.
No one embodies this more than Duane Shukoski, the candidate for Assembly District 53. That’s because Duane has lived this reality. He grew up in foster care in Neenah and has been a lifetime resident of the area. He knows the needs of the district intimately. Duane did not let his early life circumstances keep him from forging a productive life through hard work and the values that he learned along the way.
Duane became a union steelworker before working his way up to a 37-year career at Kimberly- Clark where he worked in sustainability. As a result Duane believes strongly in protecting our environment and keeping the water we drink and the waters we fish in clean and safe.
Duane also understands better than most the value of community, how we all benefit when no one is left behind. That’s why he supports the public schools he and his wife and three sons attended, the same ones his grandkids now attend.
He also understands the importance of public safety and has been a strong supporter of firefighters and police and their pensions.
And he believes in fully restoring reproductive rights to women as well as making certain we have affordable child care.
