Shukoski will be a leader on climate change
By Terry Dawson
With new legislative district maps, Wisconsin residents have new opportunities to address longstanding concerns. Among these are changes to our environment — and the climate change denial long propagated by a Republican legislature. That’s one reason I’m excited to support Duane Shukoski’s candidacy for the 53rd Assembly District.
Climate isn’t an abstract or distant problem: changing weather patterns affect Wisconsin’s economy, while threats to air and water quality affect the health of every resident. As individuals we can only do so much, but together we can elect state legislators that address essential issues, rather than dealing in half measures or denial while enabling polluters. Duane has a great environmental track record: Kimberly-Clark’s Neenah plants were awarded Green Tier status under Duane’s leadership as Environmental Coordinator. He has a track record of working together with the DNR, and will make safe, healthy drinking water for all a priority.
But Duane is not a one-note candidate. He has a strong commitment to backing workers and fair wages to build our economy, as well as supporting women’s reproductive rights, strong public schools, and access to quality affordable healthcare. We need a Legislature that listens to and works for the people and families of Wisconsin. That’s why I’m excited to have a candidate like Duane Shukoski in the 53rd, and hope you’ll join me in supporting and voting for him.
