Van Orden misrepresents border issues

Why does Rep. Derrick Van Orden need two trips to our border to know there is a problem there? Another waste of taxpayers money. These immigrants are families looking for better lives which is the promise of America.

The problem at our border is not new. To blame one president is ludicrous. Trump, when he had both House and Senate, didn’t do it.

Van Orden’s touting of the Remain in Mexico law is equally ignorant. These immigrants are not from Mexico but their journey to freedom takes them through there.

Immigrants do not take American jobs and are not a drain on our revenue. Nothing could be further from the truth. They take the jobs Americans don’t want while paying into Social Security. They take few employment benefits and are 60% less likely to be incarcerated than their American counterparts.

There is a bipartisan bill from the Senate that hits every GOP demand but the House and their fickle leader won’t even consider it. Trump wants to use the border crisis to defeat democrats in November. Another example of Trump thinking of what’s best for Trump and to heck with everyone else.

The GOP is also holding up much needed funding to Ukraine allowing Putin’s army to gain ground in a fight for democracy. We need responsible, ethical, honest representatives in congress who will always have our best interests in mind. That is not Rep. Derrick Van Orden.
